so… i’m here
Hi.
It’s me.
B.
Ever since I created B & Bloom, I’ve felt pressure to uphold a certain image, voice, and aesthetic.
There’s nothing wrong with either of those things.
Actually, each of those elements — image, voice, and aesthetic — are beautiful modes of expression that anyone can cultivate, anytime.
The dilemma occurs when we start to feel either boxed in to or too comfortable in a certain mode.
Or… a certain mold.
The dilemma occurs when we abandon our ever-evolving selves to shrink back into what’s familiar.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t break it,” but… if it’s no longer your truth, dare to be something new.
Dare to be unfamiliar.
Dare to follow your truth wherever you are.
As I type this, I realize this has been a recurring dilemma in my life:
in church
at work
with family
on social media
The deep-seated question underneath the pressure to uphold a certain image, voice, and aesthetic is:
Is it safe to be me?
Is it safe to feel social on some days and dislike socializing the next?
Is it safe to feel sad? Is it safe to feel happy?
Is it safe to be seen?
Well… I’ve determined that it is.
I’m excited to connect with you in more ways than one…
I just wanted to let you know… I’m here.
I’m glad you are, too.
With love,
